They say that Spring is a time of new beginnings, well here I am in the ,so called, golden years when your supposed to set back and relax...well I tried that, not so much fun. So , a new beginning is my choice. Saturday, June first will be the opening day of KayDee Collectibles, my friend and I have finally come to the realization that it is now or never. Our little booth of goodies is located up town Grayling behind the beautiful store known as JDAP, they carry a plethora of items from antiques to tuxedos . It's a beautiful walk through the store to the "Back Room 118 Mini Mall", hope to see you there.
Just a few pictures of the type of "stuff" that we will be putting in our booth at the "Back Room 118 Antiques & Uniques" mini mall.
Well that's all for now, gotta get up town to the shop, I love saying that. Lets see if I'm still saying that a year from now.
So, from my porch to yours...
Have a blessed week...

Floor cloths...We've got you covered.
I finally got around to making the summer floor cloth for my front hall. First I had to find the canvas that was long enough and wide enough for the area. So, off to Hobby Lobby, with my 40 per cent discount coupon in hand. They had exactly what I needed, it was priced at $89.00 and with the discount it came to $50.00. I shared with a friend so my rugs cost $25.00
I had an old hollow core door and that is what i used to secure my canvas to. I stapled the canvas to the door, after cutting it to size, I made mine with a three inch hem. After canvas was secure paint the background in the color of your choice, I chose mustard, cause it is close to the cabinet that i just finished paint.
First coat of paint!
Waiting for paint to dry!!!!!
Second coat of paint.....more waiting for paint to dry...this time took a little longer.
Choose your design and start painting, this is fun and really relaxing, I think.
The design is painted and dry, now comes the polyurethane, three coats, so more waiting...
Time goes by and all is dry, now flip cloth over and begin to glue the hem.
I used E6000, but liquid nails would work also.
Put some weights on the hem, I covered the hem area with freezer paper so that the rug would not be stuck to the weights, not a good thing.
Finally done, actually took 3 days from start to finish, but i feel that it was worth every minute.
These sell for hundreds of dollars so making your own is certainly worthwhile, don't you think?
Well, that's all for this time...
So, from my porch to your's...
Have a blessed week...

Paint..It's a good thing.
I've had this old wardrobe for quite a few years and have moved it around quite a few times, I even moved it outside last year and tried to sell it. Obviously it didn't sell so I moved it back inside. I had this Epiphany... why not paint it and prim it up a bit. So, here goes.
Hum, now that looks more like something that fits into my style but still needs a little more tweaking, Tim's going to fix that drawer that wants to sit funny. Easy fix.
Side view, looking pretty good, I think.
Oh yeah, this is good, I found some old door fixtures and painted them and Tim again worked his magic, He's soooooo good at that.
TA DA!!
Close up of the door fixtures that we came up with, what do you think?
Well, that's all for now...
So, from my porch to yours,
Have a blessed week.

Bits and Pieces
Just a few pictures to share with you today, this is the writing lap desk that Tim made from a picture we saw in a magazine. It is a duplicate of the type that was commonly used during the colonial days. I painted and distressed it and I just love it.
Side view of the lap desk, I lined it with fabric, using liquid starch as the glue, this is such an easy way to line a box or to cover those boxes you find in the craft stores. Sorry, I didn't take pictures of the interior.
Just a few shots of the rearranging that I'm doing, cause I can't get outside and putter in the garden.
I love stacks of quilts, no matter where they are and they are all over my house...well maybe not so much in the kitchen, but there are few there too.
The pie safe in the living room got a little update...if the weather doesn't warm up soon I will rearrange the whole house.
The big old copper rooster moved to the front hall...the sign behind him says "Summer"...wishful thinking on my part.
The "Give Thanks" sign hangs on the freezer door...I still love my paneled fridge . The sign reminds me to be thankful every day for all the blessings that God has blessed us with.
That's all for this time...
So, from my porch to yours...
Have a blessed week.

We're having a party...A sissy party...
When I was younger and lived downstate, close to my Mom and Dad, I would call my Mom to see if she wanted to go someplace with me and if she was gone to a baby shower or bridal shower or even a women's luncheon at church Dad would always say "Your Mom's not home, she has gone to a sissy party." Well, Mom and Dad have since gone home to be with the Lord, but whenever we sisters get together we always refer to it as a Sissy party.
This is the table where the "grown-up" gals ate..It didn't look like this for long.
These two pictures are of my sisters' china closet, she has a ton of dishes.
Beautiful, just beautiful !!!
The kids ate here, mac and cheese and hot dogs...Yum!!
Well,we had a great time and great food...we really do need to do that more often.
What a blessing it is to have Christian fellowship with your family. God is so good.
Well, that's all for this time...
Have a blessed week...

Easter...What's it all about?
When I was a little girl, my mom would hide our Easter baskets and ,almost always, my older brother would find them...he wouldn't tell us where they were but he would tell us what they had in them..this made it very difficult to sleep that night.
My mom was a godly woman, and did not believe in lying to children about Christian holidays, but she did want us to have all the fun and joy of the holidays.
As an adult I have enjoyed decorating for the holidays, combining Easter & Spring, hoping that by doing so I could hurry up the arrival of Spring...I never really worked. The colored eggs in a jar are my newest addition of the season, although the eggs are several years old.
This sweet bunny never got a name but she is the care giver to the little chicks and eggs that are setting in her lap...she does a great job.
Little lambs in a basket. I used to buy these for my daughter...I think I liked them more than she.
This is "Miss Priss" she always has her nose in the air.
Now, for the true meaning of Easter: Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
I'm so glad that as a small child I was given the truth about Easter, it made accepting Christ, as Savior and Lord, so much easier and a lot less confusing.
Well, that's all for now....
So, From my Porch to Yours...
Have a Blessed Easter
