This leaded glass window was given to us by a friend of my husband, he gave us two and I sold one, this one was installed in my kitchen and looked into my craft room. We did some remodeling and added a bathroom in my craft room and had to remove the window, for obvious reasons. It now sets on the ledge of a window in our guest room.

This window came from the carriage house of the Hanson House Bed and Breakfast in Grayling, Michigan. It now resides in my living room. I love the old, flaky, green paint. I have some old shutters flanking my front windows and they are the same shade of green. This is one of those happy accidents because they came from different parts of the state but probably from the same era. |
I don't know why, but I love old doors and windows. The patriotic door is the door to my husbands office. I spotted it on the side of the road one morning as I was heading to work, it was headed to the dump. I was able to convince a co- workers grandfather to rescue it for me. He even delivered it to my home. I added a church pews' hymnal holder to the bottom of the window and that gets decorated for the seasons but I always have olde glory on display there.
This screen door is probably my favorite, I got her at a garage sale for $30.00. I almost didn't get it, we left and decided to go back and get it but when we got there , there were several people looking at her so I waited for them to walk away and promptly laid down the money. This door has a double brass screen and no holes in it, that is rare. It also has brass push bars to preserve the screen and push and pull signs on the uprights. I think this door was used at a store or office. Now it is being used as a closet door in my guest room. I installed a curtain rod to hold a lace curtain behind the door and to hide the contents of the closet. I really love this door.
Believe it or not, this is the door to my bathroom , it has a window with shutters and a doorbell. Our bathroom is really long so no privacy was compromised. This door came from a cottage that was going to be torn down and the owners daughter brought it to me, knowing I would give it a good home.
My kitchen door is just a simple Dutch door, this is the entry way to my craft room, and has come in handy over the years.
This is a metal fire door that leads to the garage, this side is in my craft room and the picture below is the other side which is in the garage. There is something about a door that just makes me want to paint a picture on it. Maybe its because it looks like an empty canvas, I don't know.
And finally the door to the front of my house, it is red and white on both sides, I love red doors, they just seem to say Welcome. What do you think.
Well that's all for this week...So
From my porch to yours
Have a blessed week
Awesome post! I love doors & windows too. must be genetic. The photo's are great too. I almost didn't even recognize the house.
ReplyDeletelove you.
Love the new photos! I forgot how much I love your doors! The office, and the bathroom are my favorites.
ReplyDeleteYay, you followed through and set up a blog like you said you would! How nice that Jennie helped set it up for you.
ReplyDeleteI love old screened wooden doors too.
xoxo -Krista
Hahaha! I was going to say the same as Jennie - the door thing must be genetic! :)
ReplyDeleteMy front door says HELLO. with the period, in red at the bottom of the door on the outside. I kept debating putting GOODBYE on the inside, for when people left, but I didn't like the idea of kicking people out with the door just as they came in.
And, every home I've had that has a peep hole has had a picture frame surrounding it. I guess I just felt like looking in the peep hole gave you a picture of the world on the other side of the door.
And, your dutch door...oh, it brings back memories!! I keep trying to convince Hubby to install one for the boys room, but so far no luck. :) I figure they can keep the dog out of the room, but we can still hear and see what's going on in there.
Maybe I'll push some more. *grin*
Thanks for starting this blog! Oh, how I remember days and days and days on "Hattie's Front Porch!"
I love the "HELLO." on the door, what about "Y'all come back." on the inside? I would push ever so softly for the Dutch door. It adds so much character and can always be changed back if needed. Good luck. Thanks for following my blog.
DeleteOooohhh - what a great idea! Thanks, Aunt Kay!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, yeah - by the way...this is Crystal...*grin*
