ANTIQUES AND FOLK ART

Well this last weekend I went to the Antique and Folk Art Show in Breckenridge, Mi., what a great show, there must have been close to 80 booths and tons of people. I did manage to find a few treasures to add to my collections. Pictures in a later post.

Sense we're talking  Antiques & Folk Art shows I thought that this would be a great time to show a few of the pieces we have finished for our up coming  Antique & Folk Art Show.
This shelf has a lot of character it is painted in an old reddish brown and distressed  heavily ,would make a great addition to any home. There are five  old square nails to hang baskets, brooms or candles on.

Another shelf with lots of character and some of the small signs that add charm to shelves and cabinets.

Old clothes pins can add a bit of whimsy to the laundry area...decorating the laundry rooms makes doing laundry fun...well, not really but it makes it more interesting.

These little clay pot totes are adorable hanging on a peg or setting on a shelf or window ledge.
Little wall pocket full of fun stuff can hang on a peg  or door knob, cute on a door too.
Silver tray with creamer and cup, really, really cute. The picture frames  are message boards to be written on with dry erase pens...great way to say good morning.
.

Time in a bottle, or rather a jar.
This display rack comes with its' own peg rack to hang on, pewter in not included. Wood bowls would be nice in this rack too.
This is a brooding hen box, great in the kitchen to hold all sort of things also in the bathroom to hold pretty jars of salts and bath oil, candles and such.
Just one more little shelf, this one will fit into those small spaces and add special touch with a vine  or a candle.

Well that's all for this week, so...

TIME FLIES...OR IS THAT FLU?

Yea, that's right....I've got the flu so this week's post is going to  be short...not much dialogue and just a few pictures I had fun taking

Flea market in Spring...tons of flowers. That's my favorite "flower" in the front.

Had fun with these chairs...neighbors thought I really  had lost it this time..Oh well.

Love these old kitchen chairs...how practical, a chair and a ladder all in one. Love it!

Favorite Summer menu, only thing missing is the strawberry shortcake.
As the sun sets I'm headed to bed....plenty of rest....that's what my Chiropractor suggested.

Farewell to Winter.....

These pictures are last years garden.....early Spring, I needed to see something growing and green.

Finally, we are having some decent weather. Today was in the high 70's...nice. I'm posting a picture taken of my flower garden in the front yard. This was just a few days ago,  there is still snow out there but not this much.  When my daughter was a little girl she and I would go on walks "looking for signs of Spring" anything green and growing counted. Well today I found several harbingers of Spring. My little Rose is Rose bush not only survived but has some new growth, a good sign, I'm hoping it survives .... and a Johnny Jump Up with its sweet little face poking up.

I literally forced these Forsythia to bloom here...these are at the foot of my claw foot bath tub and remind me that Spring is truly on its way.

Geraniums are one of my favorite annuals...just waiting to be put out in the garden.....

While waiting for the snow to go away I filled my time doing some crafts... I love making baskets...I'm thinking of going back into teaching the craft again, we'll see. Anyway, I made this basket, I call it my Peanut basket...what do you think? doesn't it look like a peanut.

Hope of Spring

I almost skipped doing a blog this week. We have had a really full week and I didn't have time to put together a thoughtful blog...that's not to say that I didn't think about what I'm putting into this blog it is just that I didn't think about it till today...

So what I did was I started my Spring decorating, this is just a small  collection of  my Spring things.. up here you have to celebrate Spring inside even if it doesn't look like Spring outside, and believe me it doesn't look like Spring outside.

So whie I polished up a few pieces of my pewter I stuck a couple of my  my "bitty" rabbits and chicks around the shelves.

Annie here reminds me to be thankful for all my Blessings....I think we sometimes take the everyday blessings of God for granit.

Looks like a few of these eggs hatched...little chicks are so cute.

I guess I need a larger broom to get the job done, this little broom was given to me by my father in-law...he was such a sweet man to me and my family...I have many fond memories of him.

    More  sweet chicks!

Well thats all for this week.....

More Things Wooden

I am so fortunate to be married to my best friend. He is so talented I can hardly believe all he can do. He even shocks himself sometimes. Anyway, I have wanted a noodle board for quite a while. Well at least for two years. The first one I saw I didn't even know what it was. Then I started to see them in magazines and EBay. So I showed him a picture and I now have a noodle board....you can't see it all that well but it is under all the other items in these pictures.
You see, most of the pictures I saw of the noodle board,  they were used just as a back drop for  decorating, I didn't want it for that reason I really wanted to make my noodles and dumplings on my board.
Just to be clear, I haven't made noodles or dumplings yet but boy have I ever used it for a backdrop.
Just a few of the many mashers I've collected over the years, laying on the noodle board of course.

Below are some of the serving pieces or dippers that were used by our fore mothers, they have such a beautiful patina to them.
More dippers and ladles, the one in back , by the Ball jar, is really heavy. I don't believe it is an American piece, maybe Asian. I love it  and it fits with the others so all is well.
This little cabinet  sits by my Hoosier cabinet, today, for some reason, everything that was setting there just flew off and scattered all over the floor

I took that as a sign to do a little redecorating. My favorite pass time, especially in the drab winter season.

A bare table top ,to me, is like dead air to a radio station...            Not acceptable .
This is the way it turned out.....it may or may not stay this way.

This screen and dipper hang on the side of the Hoosier above the little cabinet that got a re do today.
