Bits and Pieces...

Well the winter holidays are upon us and it is freezing cold outside. I'm thankful for a warm cozy home. There are certain aromas that are associated with the winter and they conger up memories of Thanksgiving past. When I was a kid I didn't realize how those aromas would linger on in my  memory. I wonder if kids today will remember the sights and sounds and smells of Thanksgiving. I certainly hope so. Have a blessed Thanksgiving tomorrow and enjoy the leftovers on Friday. I love this time of year.

Just a few pictures to share with you.
These little lamps are turning out so cute...I have several to take to the shop this week.
A little girls ice skate in a grape vine wreath is adorable indoors or out.
These drawers are turning out to be lots of fun to do, this one is lined with ads from a 1941 magazine and houses various kitchen items from that era and earlier.

I've been experimenting with making sugar cones...I will be doing a blog on how and why the ladies of yesteryear made these sweet towers.
I love these old lanterns and this one was missing the glass chimney and I was tempted to just throw it away but I saw this on Pinterest and gave it a try. It is one of those battery operated votive candles and it just fits in there. Sweet.
A little primitive gathering that was on it way to the shop and was sold before it got there. Gotta love that.

I was doing some repairs to this quilt and Suzzy decided it was a cozy place for her to take a snooze. She is so cute.

Giving Thanks...

It seems like all the big box stores would rather do away with the holiday of Thanksgiving...I realize that it's not a big money maker for them, but really...It's truly an American holiday and we need to keep celebrating it...no shopping for Christmas gifts.

Having said that here are a few pictures of my Thanksgiving decorations.

Here are a couple of post cards celebrating Thanksgiving...we don't see too many cards made especially for Thanksgiving any more. These are reproductions of some vintage cards but, I've had them so long that they would qualify to be called vintage now.
This is a collection of Thanksgiving candles, I can't bring myself to actually burn them.
This little turkey is not a candle, he is carved and painted and has a sign around his neck saying, "Eat Beef" , I love that.

I love Thanksgiving and all the memories that go along with it. Hope you have a blessed time planing and celebrating Thanksgiving.

That's all for this time...

So, from my porch to yours...

Have a blessed week...
