Changing seasons, changing time and changing my mind...

I know that it is Spring because my calendar  says it is. However, when I look out my window it seems like Winter. It has been snowing for the last few days and it isn't supposed to stop till sometime in the night. We probably have 6 to 8 inches of snow. I saw my first Robin just a few days ago I'm sure he's asking himself "Why did I come north so early?" He can't even find enough grasses and twigs to build a nest for his family. Oh well, on to other things.

I've got a few pictures to show you, we have been busy re-doing some pieces of furniture, and just about the time I get a few pieces done I sell something and have to take it to the shop and I don't have time to take pictures and blog about it. Mind you, I'm not complaining, I'm just explaining.

Well, these two pictures are of dresser with an added piece on top, it is actually an apple sorting bin, it was used in the barn and in the field to sort the large apples  from the small before they took them to the farmers market. We got two of them, the other one is in the shop and this one is going to stay with me. I love it, I'm going to use the bin for a shelf and have it mounted on the wall over the dresser.I will post pictures of that when the deed is done.

Just a couple of old hens looking for a warm place to roost... They will be roosting in my booth, come tomorrow.

This piece experienced some change too, we added the top shelf and made it a step back dresser, our version, at least.

And last but not least, my collection of alarm clocks got a new home, and no, I don't Spring forward and Fall back with them. So you see all of these pieces have or will undergo change, and as far as changing my mind, well that is still up in the air, I'm trying to decide if I want to continue with this Blog.  Face Book has made a few changes and it is difficult to link my Blog pictures up with FB...so I'm in a quandary, so to speak.

That's all for this time...

So from my porch to yours...

Have a blessed Spring...

Here's what's happening..

I know it has been a while sense I've posted on my Blog, but don't think that I've been lounging around or on vacation. Oh no!! not a chance, you see the new booth is going like gang busters and not just mine but all the booths seem to be doing really well. However,in regards to my booth I've got to say God has been so good I am always amazed at His ability to do what I think is impossible. What a great God we have.

Well, look what I found in an old lady's basement...

                                                                            NOT!!!

I'm showing you the after pictures first...I think you will be surprised as to what this was before we got hold of it.

Obviously, this is a close up of the top...I really love the scalloped top...

and we couldn't just leave the bottom alone so we added the pretty little feet.
And now the inside, there are three shelves with lots of space for linens, clothes, china or quilts, needless to say this piece could be used in most any room of the house.
And this is what she started out life as, well, sort of, again I forgot to take the before pictures. However, a dresser is a dresser, right, and this was a dresser, only she was missing a drawer and should have had four drawers. This was as close to what he looked like as I could get. Again, I must say, "This is going to be a hard one to part with."

That's all for now...

So, from my porch to yours...

Have a blessed week.

Just a few Before & Afters...

I'm not always good at getting the before pictures...I'm always anxious to get painting or renovating the piece that I forger to take a picture...well, not so this time.

So, HERE WE GO!!!

Remember this bench from a previous post? This was the foot board of an old 1800's  bed and it sold as we were carrying it into the booth...I just love it when that happens.

Well, this is the head board of that same bed...it is pretty tall and quite heavy.
This is the  finished product, I painted it white and added a little bit of age to it but not as much as I did with the foot board. We added four iron hooks and some filigree to the top and bottom...

Just a few close ups so you can see the different aspects of the head board and a few suggestions as to how to decorate around it.

I added a gentleman's top hat..and an umbrella to one side...
a ladies straw hat on  the other side and...
on the seat a pair of high top ladies shoes, these are from the  1800's also and if you look closely you can see a pair of ladies gloves laying on the seat next to the shoes.

This was a fun piece to do...hope it sells as quickly as the other one.

Well, thats all for now..

So, till next time..

Are we there yet? Almost...

I'm talking about the new booth, we're almost ready to open, just need to put the price tags on and hang a few shelves .

First we had to trailer the big stuff, that always makes me a little nervous.

We made it...Tim did all the grunt work I just had to decide where to put everything...in the end we just lined everything up against the walls and I will go in and spend the day doing the gussie work.

Tim mounted the screen door for me to give the booth more of a front porch look. Oh! the booth name is "The Frontporch Collection" I took the liberty of making front porch all one word.

Tim made the plaque for my booth number, I liking the way things are starting to shape up.
I was worried that I wouldn't have enough stuff, if I had any more it wouldn't have fit.
Just a few pictures of the booth in it's beginning stages...I will be moving a few things around and adding doilies and tablecloths and dishes in the china cabinet.

I wrapped grapevines around the back of the ladder and added a string of lights to draw the eye up to the items that are going to be up there.

The bench sold while we were carrying it in so I will have some space to work with soon. I hope all my stuff sells that quick. I hope I'm able to keep up with the painting if everything sells quickly.

I will post more pictures when I have everything on the walls and all my gussie work is done.

That's all for this time...

So from my porch to yours...

Have a blessed week.

Remembering...

I remember when saying "Merry Christmas" wasn't a bad thing. I remember people who never went to church or even thought about Christ as a person still said "Merry Christmas". I love Christmas, not because of all the gifts but because of what it stands for. The birth of my Lord and Savior,  if He had not been born He could not have died for our sins, then where would we be?  Lost.

I'm looking forward to the family coming up this weekend, we will have food, fun, and fellowship, and some gifts but the best part is getting together with those we love.

Tim and I have been busy getting ready to open a new booth in Grayling. It is going to be located in the old DuBois Lumber building, grand opening will be January 23. I'm excited to be back in Grayling. I love this little town, we still do a lot of things "the old fashioned way"... people helping people, going to the store and almost always seeing someone you know. I love it.

Well, enough of that , here are some pictures of what we have been up to.

This dresser has an opening where the top drawer would be, the suitcase just happened to fit into that opening...it is not going to be sold with the dresser I'm just showing them some ways of using the top opening, a basket or two would also be great there.

We found this wardrobe while we were out looking for a base cabinet to turn into a small Hoosier type cabinet. Well we found the base cabinet and this little charm was sitting there with a " hold for" tag on it. this place will only hold for a day then it is up for grabs . The gal who had her name on it did not come back so I grabbed it.
It was in sad shape, Tim had to do some major repairs,

I found some neat feet to add to the bottom...
Then had the idea to add a little glam to the top

Here is the finished piece and I'm really loving it, may have a hard time parting with this one.

I painted the inside white...that was the hardest part for me, not much elbow room. Would have been easier if I could have crawled inside, that was not possible.

                                                  *******************************

This  little beauty is a real winner, it has eight drawers and the top two are divided...this could service two kids in the same room or used for extra storage in any room of the house.

I guess that's all I have for this time...hope your Christmas is blessed and your new year is a great one.

So,that's all for now..

It's That Time of Year....

I've been busy getting things ready for my booth and to tell the truth it seemed a little strange to be decorating sleds...But then...today we got snow, not feeling so strange now.

So I put a bow and some greens on the small sled it looked pretty good but seemed a little skimpy
same thing with the larger sled..looked pretty good but something was missing.

So, I had this pair of girls ice skates and had intended on selling them as singles to put in a wreath or sit on a shelf, whatever...
This is where they ended up, I added a clothes pin snowman to the red country sled and now it looks complete.

The Victorian- ish sled got a white ice skate and a pearl necklace

It, too, now looks more complete...with me, more is better,  I  hardly have one of anything, well, I only have one fridge and one range, but that really is all I need. But when it comes to collecting, yep, more is better. But that is a blog all by its self..maybe at a later date.

That's all I have for this time I'm painting a toy stove and fridge for my granddaughter, and had better get bact to it before my paint brushes dry up on me, yuk.

So, till next time...
