Remembering...

I remember when saying "Merry Christmas" wasn't a bad thing. I remember people who never went to church or even thought about Christ as a person still said "Merry Christmas". I love Christmas, not because of all the gifts but because of what it stands for. The birth of my Lord and Savior,  if He had not been born He could not have died for our sins, then where would we be?  Lost.

I'm looking forward to the family coming up this weekend, we will have food, fun, and fellowship, and some gifts but the best part is getting together with those we love.

Tim and I have been busy getting ready to open a new booth in Grayling. It is going to be located in the old DuBois Lumber building, grand opening will be January 23. I'm excited to be back in Grayling. I love this little town, we still do a lot of things "the old fashioned way"... people helping people, going to the store and almost always seeing someone you know. I love it.

Well, enough of that , here are some pictures of what we have been up to.

This dresser has an opening where the top drawer would be, the suitcase just happened to fit into that opening...it is not going to be sold with the dresser I'm just showing them some ways of using the top opening, a basket or two would also be great there.

We found this wardrobe while we were out looking for a base cabinet to turn into a small Hoosier type cabinet. Well we found the base cabinet and this little charm was sitting there with a " hold for" tag on it. this place will only hold for a day then it is up for grabs . The gal who had her name on it did not come back so I grabbed it.
It was in sad shape, Tim had to do some major repairs,

I found some neat feet to add to the bottom...
Then had the idea to add a little glam to the top

Here is the finished piece and I'm really loving it, may have a hard time parting with this one.

I painted the inside white...that was the hardest part for me, not much elbow room. Would have been easier if I could have crawled inside, that was not possible.

                                                  *******************************

This  little beauty is a real winner, it has eight drawers and the top two are divided...this could service two kids in the same room or used for extra storage in any room of the house.

I guess that's all I have for this time...hope your Christmas is blessed and your new year is a great one.

So,that's all for now..

It's That Time of Year....

I've been busy getting things ready for my booth and to tell the truth it seemed a little strange to be decorating sleds...But then...today we got snow, not feeling so strange now.

So I put a bow and some greens on the small sled it looked pretty good but seemed a little skimpy
same thing with the larger sled..looked pretty good but something was missing.

So, I had this pair of girls ice skates and had intended on selling them as singles to put in a wreath or sit on a shelf, whatever...
This is where they ended up, I added a clothes pin snowman to the red country sled and now it looks complete.

The Victorian- ish sled got a white ice skate and a pearl necklace

It, too, now looks more complete...with me, more is better,  I  hardly have one of anything, well, I only have one fridge and one range, but that really is all I need. But when it comes to collecting, yep, more is better. But that is a blog all by its self..maybe at a later date.

That's all I have for this time I'm painting a toy stove and fridge for my granddaughter, and had better get bact to it before my paint brushes dry up on me, yuk.

So, till next time...

Sometimes things just go wrong...

Like this...
from a distance not so bad...but when you take a closer look...not so good. Well, stuff like this happens and even though it is a little discouraging it is not the end of the world. So, switch gears and rev up the old paint roller and start on a new project. Will come back to this mess at a later date.
New project...this bed frame is really, really old and if it were in pristine condition would be worth a lot of $$$, however it is not in great condition and a lot of the small pieces are missing and it is an odd size...3/4 is what they call it today. They do not make mattresses in this size, you can have them custom made and that too is a lot of $$$. So this is my plan..
The foot board is going to be made into a child size bench...I've painted it white and distressed it just a tad...this kind of distressing is not distressing to me...

These two pictures are the before...
and close ups of the detail on the foot board/bench back ...

Well that is as far as I can go right now, Tim has to enter the picture, so to speak, and perform his magic. I will post pictures of the finished project. Oh! by the way , the head board is also going to be turned into a bench and I will post pictures when that happens.

Well that's all for this time...

So, from my porch to yours...

Have a blessed week.

All you need is...

just a little paint.

This little dresser we found on the side of the road...yep, this young couple was emptying out the cabin they bought and didn't want any of the furniture that was left there. Well, I did...so Tim and I hauled this and a few other pieces home  and this is how it looks now.
Tim took the front of the top drawer and put it on the bottom of the dresser to cover up the gap that was left when a piece broke off. I think that it looks like two pieces of furniture stacked up now. I really like the way this turned out.

This hall tree was made by Tim and painted by me...I went with the "French Country" look this time.
Can't tell you what the color is because I mixed two paints I had together to get this pale Robin egg blue...
This looks more like my sisters home, if she had room for it I would have offered it to her...

But, instead, it ended up in my booth at Morning Glory Mercantile, hope it sells quickly.

Finally, this primitive black tray, made from a drawer, would be great dressed up for Fall and placed on the table or side board.

This whole blog is about doing and re-doing...all of these items were destined for the land fill but we transformed them and now they are destined to be in someones home. I love that.

Well, that's all for now...

WOW! What A Summer...

I spent most of the Summer fighting off some sort of bacterial infection which cased me to become very anemic, I'm not going to spend a lot of time talking about that, I just wanted to explain my absence from Hattie's Front Porch.
My poor garden suffered too, I never got out there to weed or plant any new perennials...

I barely got my corner re-do started when the "Bug" got me. Maybe next year.
So, jump ahead to Fall and I right there, inside and out. I've put a little bit of  Fall around the house. More on that in the next blog.
A few items waiting to be taken to the little booth.

Well that's all for now...

Spring...Early Spring.

It has been a while since I've changed the look of our front porch and this is the second time I've  changed it this year. I think this is going to be the "look" for a while. I love this old farm table and have wanted to do something like this for quite sometime so when this table became available I couldn't resist.

Soon these will be planted in their proper place and I will post pictures  but it is still a little too cold at night to pop these in the ground now.
However, these Pansies can take the cold and I'm hoping that they will soon fill this wagon with their sweet little faces.

you know, I kind of like the garden in early Spring, everything is so sparse and as each bloom makes through the soil it is so greatly appreciated, I still marvel at the wonder of Spring, it just reaffirms my belief that God is a wondrous God. I don't know if yo can see them or not but I have giant Allium coming up and I can't wait to see them in full bloom.

Here we go, again...

We have been very busy hauling and moving furniture around. Yesterday we had a trailer full and when we got to the shop there were a ton of people there, my booth was in total chaos but that didn't stop people from shopping...it was fun. Tim helped to bring the stuff in and he talked to the couple that was in the booth and I found out that she and her sister-in-law had been there before and her sister-in-law had purchased the tea cart that I had in my booth. Well the crowd finally thinned out and Tim went to Home Depot while I finished  putting the small stuff around...

Before...

and after....   this was a special order so I'm hoping that it will be gone soon...I've got a white dresser to take its place

Most of these large pieces are what we delivered yesterday we rested a bit and then today...

HERE WE GO AGAIN.......TRAILER HOOKED UP...

                                                            Tim and his dolly
And these are the latest pieces we got, the white wicker cart is probably going to live on my front porch...the dresser is going to be oh so chic when we get her done, there is a large mirror that goes with her...and, alas, the drawers need to be fixed...like I said...HERE WE GO AGAIN!!!
That's all for now...

So from my porch to yours...

Have a blessed week...

HAPPY EASTER...don't forget to go to church.
