Just Red...

I never realized just how much red we had in our home until I started this blog. I guess I have a real fondness for red...sorry purple...you know "when I am old I will wear purple" I guess I will wear red. OK! Now for some pictures.

Well I just have to say a few words about this picture,,,I just got this red scale pan and the sugar nippers that are on it, they are not red but I love them and they are on display ,with the sugar cones that I make, in my kitchen.
We still have to add the little pegs to the crossbar on this dresser, that will be done tonight, I'll post a picture of the finished product at a later date.
This book isn't red, and I haven't even "read" it but I thought it was cute so, there it is.

Red shutters and my Dad's flag.
Tim's old red checked hunting jacket and shirt, wonder if they still fit, bet they do.

                                                              Just more red.

                                                       Old church hymnals.

Old red pitcher pump that Tim brought home one day...I'm not the only one that loves vintage.

                                                              Another red clock....
                                              and two old red sifters....

                                                    I LOVE RED!!!

Well, that's all for this time,so

What's on the work table???

I have a plethora of projects going on at the same time...some are very large and some are not  so large. I'm just going to post a few before and after...it seems like I have more afters than before...hum...I'm going to try and do better .

So, this is my "work table" future projects that will probably appear as a finished project on its' way to the shop.
This is the overflow from the worktable, enough said.

This is hard to read here but it is my blackboard and has a list of project ideas and supplies needed...I should put a larger work room on the list of supplies needed.

I'm really liking these "tool box planters"  I may have to make one to keep for myself.

Well that's all I have for now...gotta get to the workroom...

My verse for today is: Ecclesiastes 9:10 A  Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with all thy might...

Well that's allfor this time, so...

Maybe it's just cabin fever, but...

I have not had the desire to leave the house and that, my friends, can be dangerous. There is only so much television one can take and my tolerance for it has diminished quite a bit. Therefore, I start looking around for something to do, not necessarily dishes or traditional housework. Hum!!!How can I change things up? See what I mean, I've been moving huge pieces of furniture around the house, it's a good thing that everything is on one level.

Well here are some of the smaller changes that have come about, some with the help of good ole Tim.
I had this floor lamp with an attached lamp shade so changing the shade is no easy thing. I didn't care for the old shade so I decided to cover it with burlap. I cut long strips about 2 1/2 or 3 inches wide...

then I proceeded to wrap the shade with these strips, sewing them together as necessary. then I applied a coating of liquid starch to the inside and outside if the shade. This acts like glue and  will help prevent the burlap from "shedding" . Then I added the little embellishment around the middle
 and glued it in place.

These two pictures are of the finished shade, one with the light on and one with light off. I did switch bulbs to a lower wattage and it looks better , not so see throuish. "my word"
Then I  saw this  granite colander and wondered if  I would be able to do this project by myself, so I gave it a try and , ta da, here it is.
The second one was going to have three tiers and would require some fancy drilling so...Tim to the rescue. I'm loving these..I may just be turning all my colanders  into these sweet little organizers.
I know, it's Winter, but I have to be thinking about Spring for the shop. I glued a sheet of music to this old can, it is "America The Beautiful" and on the back is a small flag and it is all tied up with burlap.
The Geranium is obviously faux, but, I'm thinking Flag Day, 4th of July, Memorial day...lots of opportunity to use this centerpiece.
Well, this is just a sample of how Cabin Fever effects me, I'm on the prowl for more things to alter into something different and perhaps more useful. These will end up in the shop at some point in time. I hope others share my excitement about these. I guess we will see.

That's all for now...

So, from my porch to yours...

Have a blessed week...

OLD WORLD CHARM...

I've been collecting Polish Pottery for around twenty years. My first piece was a coffee mug, purchased by my daughter as a Christmas gift for me. She and I worked at a local gift shop and they carried a few pieces of this beautiful pottery.  She managed to buy it without me knowing it, I was truly surprised, and thus began my venture into the world of Polish Pottery.
There are many different patterns and I don't even try to stick to one pattern, I don't even know the names of the patterns but I know that they are all painted by hand and signed by the artist. I love that.
I store the ones that are  not used every day in the china cabinet that belonged to my Mom. The glass doors and sides make it possible to view the contents from three sides.
I'm going to add little electric candles to the shelves so that the pottery is easier to see, and I love using candles anywhere I can. They use very little electricity and add such warmth to a grouping.
The everyday dishes are stored on open shelves in the kitchen where they can easily be reached when needed. I use them quite often and they are great to bake in and clean up so easily.

Needless to say, the beautiful color of blue goes well with the pewter that I love to collect and the two can be married to make a beautiful table.

I'm seriously considering adding these beauties to my shop, I'm looking into suppliers that will sell to small shops, I'll let you know when this comes about.

Well, that's all for now...

So, from my porch to yours...

Have a blessed new year.
