This Chick wants to know...What's New?

Isn't she cute? I just had to add a little Spring to my post... Well, here's whats new...
A local antiques dealer and friend is closing up shop and moving back down state, she let Dee and me have first run at her stuff and boy, was it ever fun.  The large wooden bowl and butter paddle are well over a hundred years old, the bowl was probably made by the husband...there are no manufacturers markings to be found. I just love these old bowls, it looks shiny because I oiled it and the paddle.
The little bowl and chopper are equally as old, they were used to chop fresh herbs and things like green onions or chives. Tim is going to sharpen the chopper for me, I'm looking forward to using them.

Some wonderful old crocks to add to my collection, I may have to sell some of my other butter crocks to make room for these. Not sure if I want to sell these.
I also picked up some nice granite ware, most are grey and one is white with black trim, all are in good condition. Love the angel food cake pan... that, for sure,is a keeper.
Some great old parade flags...one with only 48 stars the rest have 50 stars but are made of cotton and have a great feel to them.

Well, that's all for this week...

So from my porch to yours...

Have a blessed week...

Today's verse: Proverbs 25:11  A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.

Let your words be gentle and kind.

Down in the dumps...not really

I'm feeling like I'm in the dump, you know, as in dumpster diving. But without the dumpster, I went diving into my stash of  furniture and furniture pieces to see what I could re -purpose into something useful. This is what I came up with...

I love old shoes, I have my Grandmothers  last pair of shoes and I have a pair of both my children's  baby shoes, I also have several pairs of shoes that I have no idea  to whom they belonged, but they are so sweet. This little shoe came with a pair of baby shoes I bought on line I have no idea what happened to its mate. I think that this would make a sweet night light in a baby's room

My next project involved two doors from an entertainment center cabinet, they were already painted green all I had to do was add the chalk board paint and stencil on one and distress the other and  I've got two new pieces to take to the shop.

Then I found a bundle of Christmas lights and my gazing ball in a box in the garage and I stuffed the lights inside the ball  and now I have a beautiful night light to put on the porch, when the weather warms up a bit.
I worked on a few Spring decorations but somehow managed to misplace the pictures, wonder where they go. So to take their place...my final piece of  red painted furniture...really.

Well, that's all for this week...

So, from my porch to yours...

Have a blessed week.

This weeks verse:

Proverbs 18:9 He also that is slothful in his work, is brother to him that is a great waster.

I'm Just Saying...

If this snow doesn't let up there is no telling what will get painted next...and I cannot be held responsible.

This is a picture of what the outside looks like, add to this 30 below zero...Yikes!!!

I think  now you can understand why everything that is inside the house is fair game.

I thought I liked this trunk just the way it is.....Rustic, right.

And here it is after a coat or two of chalk paint and dark  wax...it looks like it has always been this color.

And nothing is sacred I even went after the curtains in the kitchen/dining room.

I'm really liking these...I just may have to make some for the shop...

Hum! what can I paint now, Tim and Suzie are getting very nervous , then there is the neighbors dog, no better not.

Well, that's all for now...

So from my porch to yours...

Have a blessed week..

Today's verse:    Proverbs 23: 7a   For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he...
